"Retirement

is about reinvention

- a palette for transformation."

Alice Gannon

In 2006, Rodney Rothman published his memoir called Early Bird, a story about a 28 year old who decides to retire early and move into a community of people 50 years his senior in Baca Raton, Florida. In his hilarious romp around life in retirement he throws open the permission to rethink what it means to retire.

Before the 19th century the average person's life expectancy was between 24 and 35 years. Today, it's 72 to 73 years. Retirement literally means to "re-tire". Thanks for a number of advancements in sanitation, hygiene, medicine, nutrition, birth and infant care, and education, we are rewarded with not one set but a second or third set of wheels to continue our life journeys today. Retirement is the opportunity to pull into the pitstop and do just that: to recalibrate the engines and re-tire your wheels to set yourself off on new adventures.

The question that feels daunting is how and when and what is retirement meaning for you? For many it will simply be "not working". That's a great place to start. Retirement can also be so much more than that - it can be about reinvention and a palette for transformation entirely. Retirement is not about aging as Rodney Rothman shows us, it's about curating a life that is truly authentic to you, perhaps for the first time.

Here we welcome anyone who is seeking to "re-tire" their wheels and explore how whole body intelligence can be a gateway to opening new horizons in this chapter of your lives.
